Renegade Santa Run 5K, 10K & Kid’s Run

December 14, 2013

KSJG was an Event Sponsor in this year’s annual Renegade Santa Run. Proceeds from this event raised money for Human Options, a non-profit organization dedicated to victims of domestic violence. This event is a favorite with runners who like to dress up. Prizes were awarded for the Best Running Santa, Best Holiday Costume (non-Santa), and Best Kid’s Holiday Costume, in addition to the customary 1st through 3rd overall and by age categories.

The organizers couldn’t have asked for a better day. It was a bright, beautifully clear SoCal morning. Twenty-seven of KSJG’s finest and fittest met at Hicks Canyon Elementary School in Irvine to participate in either the 5K or 10K run. The organizers provided each runner with a goodie-bag and a T-shirt where our KSJG logo was proudly displayed on the back. The course was flat and fast, which took runners up and down the Peters Canyon bike trail. There were over 1,600 runners lined up at the start line. Once the gun went off, we all made our way past the timing center and the race began. The serious runners in the group jumped up to the front quickly and were gone in a flash. The rest enjoyed the beautiful day, admiring the scenery along the route and everyone’s costumes. After the run we enjoyed refreshments, especially the pizza from BJ’s, and checked out the various vendor booths on-site.

These runs are a good way to promote a healthy lifestyle along with sponsoring a good cause!
